Here are 5 top top tips to get rid of Procrastination
Recognise if this sounds familiar - Are you a procrastinator?
Understand why - is it boring, you are feeling overwhelmed, worries about fear of failure. Many perfectionists are also procrastinators so I am sure some of these things will be coming up for you. Listen to what is REALLY behind you not completing the task.
Set a strategy to help. Some good ones are:
Set a deadline. Deadlines are the enemy of procrastination. We all live with deadlines at work and at home so use them.
Find an accountability partner. A friend, a coach, a work colleague, someone who you will tell when you have completed the task and will check in on your progress.
Change the way you phrase things. Switch to more positive, encouraging words like I want to , I choose to instead of the procrastinating I need to, I have to.
Minimise any distractions. Put the phone away, shut your emails, reduce your meeting times. Take away those time stealers so you can choose to create space to get the action done.
Finally, set yourself the goal and then eat the frog. Make it the first thing you do of the day so you can bask in the joy of having achieved what you though was impossible all day long.
